found an mre in our garage. decided to open it and eat what's inside

found an mre in our garage. decided to open it and eat what's inside

basically the title, but this is seperated into parts.

mre: pasta with garden vegetables and tomato sauce.
mre maker: a-pack
age: i have no clue

part one is the oatmeal cookie and drink mix it came with

oatmeal cookie: hard as a brick tbh, but it was edible and tasted pretty good. i give it a 7 or 8 out of 10
lemon drink mix: awful. just awful. 1/10. maybe some stevia could've fixed this, but i dont have any rn

will follow up on part 2 soon

part two: crackers with peanut butter and brown sugar toaster pastry

crackers: dry, but edible. still tasted okay
peanut butter: really strong peanut taste compared to other peanut butters, but again, it was edible
together: it was okay, but felt like it needed something
overall: strong six out of 10

pastry: crumbles, very fucked looking, but tasted pretty good surprisingly
overall: 7/10

final part, our main course, the pasta, to come soon

and now the main dinner: the pasta with garden vegetables. was it worth the hype?

heating bag: didnt eat it, but was surprised it got hot that quick
the pasta: awful. just awful. one bite and i spit it back int the bag. that thing went bad. looked okay though. smelled nice, but had a bad taste to it. honestly, i'd rather you eat chef boyarde. at least the stuff tastes good

overall: 2/10. im only giving it a 2 because of the heating bag and the smell of it, i guess, but everything else was pretty bad.

overall mre experience: 6/10.

Little bit more then a decade ago my whole county lost power for like half a month straight during hurricane season and had to be given MRE shipments to feed the low income families (ie me). I still have fond memories of some of the flavors they gave us, they weren't all that bad to lil 3rd grader me.
